Great interview by my old friend Hian.
He makes a sharp point: Singapore is so structured, optimized, and orderly that we sometimes struggle with the messiness of "creative destruction"—the willingness to tolerate uncertainty, take big risks, and let things break to build something truly iconic.
Yet, he reminds us of local pioneers like Sim Wong Hoo of Creative Technology, who proved early on that a homegrown team could dominate global markets with the Sound Blaster card—and Hian even mentions that he still buys and uses Creative Technology speakers today because the sound quality and value remain unmatched.
To build our next wave of global leaders, we need to embrace a bit of that "unreasonable mindset," celebrate our own success stories, and let our innovators take bold leaps. Good stuff Hian Goh!
