Last week in Helsinki, I had the privilege of joining the Extended Purchasing Leadership Team, bringing together purchasing leaders from across the world around a powerful theme: "From Good to Great. Together."
Over several inspiring days, we challenged ourselves to think beyond performance and focus on what truly enables sustainable excellence. We discussed our mission, sharpened our vision, reinforced the value Purchasing brings to the business, and explored how we can create even greater impact through stronger cross-functional collaboration.
Our conversations also highlighted the foundations required to move from good to great: clarity of purpose, compliance with integrity, empowerment of teams, accountability, and a relentless focus on creating value for our customers and business.
What resonated most with me was that greatness is rarely achieved in isolation. While individuals can elevate their own performance and move from good to great, the real transformation happens when we combine our strengths, perspectives, and expertise.
My strongest takeaway is that excellence may start with individuals, but greatness is achieved together.
