Europe is having one of its hottest weeks on record. And in the middle of it, our cities have to keep working for the people who live there, for those visiting, and for everyone who simply needs to get through their day.
Some of that work almost goes unnoticed. The kind of infrastructure that just works, so people can get on with their day.
An escalator that takes a family up from a cool metro platform into the square above, saving them a long climb in the sun. An elevator that lets an older couple reach the part of the city they came to see, without exhausting themselves on the stairs. A moving walkway that turns a long underground transfer into something effortless, and a few degrees cooler. These small elements of infrastructure are easy to miss. But on weeks like this one, they are exactly what keeps a city livable, accessible and open to everyone.
That is the role we want to play at #TKE. Not just builders of vertical and inclined mobility, but enablers of urban life and quiet partners to the cities that are working hard to adapt.
