This summer, I had the privilege of interning on the Existing Installation (EI) sales team at the Los Angeles Branch of Schindler Elevator Corporation (U.S.) and it's hard to believe it's already my last day.
I came in knowing remotely nothing about elevators. Now I'm walking away incredibly grateful for the experience and knowledge I've gained in a truly fascinating field, one where no day is ever like another.
Over the past few months, I got hands-on experience across a wider range of projects than I ever expected: building a weighted-scoring bid analysis for a districtwide elevator maintenance contract, going out to survey potential job sites (including a 59-unit survey at JPL), traveling to Utah for intern training, and developing a California market analysis to support new business prospecting. I also supported contract creation, billing, and client communication. One of the most rewarding parts was speaking with so many meaningful clients, learning how to explain what went wrong with their elevator and how we can fix it.
I've genuinely enjoyed my time here and learned so much from everyone on the LA team who welcomed me in and answered my endless questions.
As this summer is coming to an end, I'm incredibly grateful to share that this isn't goodbye. I will be continuing with Shcindler through the fall. Excited for what's ahead!
