In elevator projects, the impact of a risk often extends beyond the phase where it first appears.
A shaft interface discrepancy identified after manufacturing release may require a design change, disrupt the installation sequence, consume project contingency, and affect the handover date.
That is why risk management must follow the full delivery chain.
A PMP-based approach gives each significant risk a clear structure: define the uncertain event and its consequences, assess its likelihood and impact, agree on a response and an owner, and establish the trigger for action or escalation.
The assessment must also be revisited as the project moves from design and procurement through installation, commissioning, and handover. A response agreed months earlier may no longer be sufficient when site conditions or dependencies change.
Strong project control is the ability to recognize exposure early, make a timely decision, and protect the milestones that follow.
