Joining Liftec Express has been one of the best decisions I've made so far. I started as a complete novice, and I was paired with an experienced engineer who's been showing me the ropes ever since, first on traction lifts, then hydraulic lifts.
More recently I've moved into control technology, learning how the systems work and how to troubleshoot faults. Using probes to check voltage and current drops has been a real turning point for me. It's usually the first thing we do when a lift controller isn't behaving on site.
There's a more serious side to the role too. My partner and I have been involved in LG E5 and E10 testing on traction lifts, similar to an MOT for lifts. Not something I expected to be doing this early in my training, but it's given me a much better understanding of what safe and compliant actually means.
To top it off, I started my NVQ Level 3 last month. It’ll take around two to three years alongside working, but I’m looking forward to getting stuck into it and building my career in the lift industry.
