To allow for more time to transition from analogue to digital, the UK's digital switchover is now scheduled for completion by 31st January 2027. If you haven’t already, now is most definitely the time to review which analogue services you haven’t upgraded. This includes almost all equipment that plugs into an analogue phone socket – and importantly, a lift’s emergency auto-dialler.
This upgrade is important, as all passenger lifts installed post 1999 fall under the requirements of BS EN 81-28 and require a functional auto-dialler. There are also many older units that have previously been upgraded and include an emergency analogue auto-dialler. If this has not already been done, these will also need to be ungraded to a digital service.
As lift maintenance contracts do not cover equipment upgrades, property owners and facility managers will need to speak with their current maintenance provider to confirm costs for an upgrade. Depending upon the maintenance supplier and contract in place, it may be that third-party upgrades and modernisation work are allowed to take place. This is helpful when a procurement rule requires obtaining multiple quotes before instructing any work to take place.
In these instances, Liftec Express can help by providing a competitive quote for the supply and installation of a digital auto-dialler. We only supply and fit recognised leading brand equipment that is compatible with installed equipment, including OEM lifts and their control systems.
