Hans måte å lede andre på fikk meg til å se en annen vei å lede enn å skrike ut ordre. Han gikk foran og viste vei. En stille leder. En som fikk andre til å steppe opp gamet når han først sa ifra. AC Milan var en stor konkurrent til mitt Juventus, men de var gode og viste vei i europeisk fotball.
Hans storebror spilte i det andre bylaget i Milano. Giuseppe var en like stor leder som Franco Baresi. Men lillebror Franco hadde titler å vise til. For meg var begge store forbilder.
Måten Franco utviklet sine medspillere kalles lederutvikling. Hans backrekke med Costacurta, Tassotti og juvelen Paolo Maldini, og to ytterligere ledere i Pirlo og Ancellotti. Som dirigent viste han vei.

The way he led others showed me a style of leadership that didn't involve shouting orders. He led by example and showed the way. A quiet leader. Someone who made others step up their game whenever he did speak up. AC Milan was a major rival to my Juventus, but they were excellent and set the standard in European football.
His older brother played for Milan's other team. Giuseppe was just as much of a leader as Franco Baresi. But the younger brother, Franco, had the trophies to show for it. To me, both were great role models.
The way Franco developed his teammates is what we call leadership development. He had a backline featuring Costacurta, Tassotti, and the gem Paolo Maldini, plus two other leaders in Pirlo and Ancelotti. Like a conductor, he led the way.
